Automotive salvaging is basically the removal of parts from cars that are no longer in use to be used in other vehicles. These vehicles are normally stored in salvage yards where they remain until the parts that they have are ready for use. They are organised in neat stacks one on top of the other and then inventoried so as to make sure that they are easily found later. The vehicles come from owners who no longer want need it or from insurance companies who sell crash cars to make back some of the money that they have lost. The process begins with the retrieving of the unused motor vehicle. The car is the inspected by trained personnel who decide which parts are salvageable and those are removed. Parts like the headlights and mirrors are first taken out and then the major parts are then tested and taken out.

They are put on display in the showrooms and also recorded in the inventory database. This database can be viewed by other salvage yards and junk yards in the state. This also links them to those that are in close by states. The remainder of the vehicle is then used for scrap metal. The owners of these establishments have to get a licence before they can open to the public. If it is that you don't want to actually go out and purchase your parts then you can go on the internet and do your search. The parts are all accessible through the online databases. You don't have to leave the comfort of your home and get dirty. You can compare prices and find places that will deliver as well and still get the most affordable price for your part.
